One of the few known species from China. It is a deciduous low growing form. Profusions of small white star flowers in spring. Grow on edge of woodland, or on a raised bed or rockery in partial shade in soil that does not dry out.  A very pretty form. Height to 30cm, clumps slowly.

Another of the limited number of species identified from China, Hunan Province, in 1994. A vigorous tough evergreen medium sized species ideal for the woodland garden; and will tolerate deep shade, but with less of a flowering display.  Dark spiny glossy green leaves.  Bicolor flowers with white inner sepals and reddish purple petals.

Large flowers with light green inner sepals and bright yellow spurs, on stems above the leaves to 45cm. Particularly cold-hardy, surviving above the snowline in its distribution.
