Epimedium ilicifolium – Chinese evergreen species from Shaanxi Province.  Long narrow evergreen leaves with distinctive spines, up to 25cm. Large flowers with light green inner sepals and bright yellow spurs, on stems above the leaves to 45cm. Particularly cold-hardy, surviving above the snowline in its distribution.

Relatively new Chinese species introduction.  This is a mid-sized evergreen similar to Epimedium Fargesii, with small starry white petals, slightly backswept, showing off a distinct purple centre and elongated anthers.  This species is endangered in the wild and valued for its medicinal properties in China.

Relatively new introduction from China (CC 022403).  Evergreen with the new leaves coloured distinctly brown, with densely haired reverse sides.  Flowers are pale pink and purple centred.  This species grows to around 45cm and tends to spread slowly.
