Very attractive Japanese fern with mahogany ribbed, deep olive green fronds growing up to 45 cm. Moist free-draining soil in moderate to deep shade. Deciduous and hardy. Makes a very good specimen plant and does well in a pot.

Japanese Painted Fern Hardy herbaceous fern with deep purple-red painted fronds. The depth of the colour and frond patterning increases with age. Grow in free-draining moist soil in semi to full shade. Makes good ground cover, and equally good as a specimen planting.
Large deciduous (edible) fern with a thick rhizome that occasionally can form a small trunk. Tall arching attractively bronzed graceful fronds appear in spring.
