Epimedium stellulatum ‘Wudang Star’ – Wild collected in China by Roy Lancaster in 1983. Evergreen clumps of glossy green leaves, with masses of small, yellow anther white star flowers through spring. Flowering up to 30cm.
Recent hybrid in 2015. Produces many sizeable cream and red-pink bi-coloured flowers in tall spikes to 75cm. Leaves marked attractively to start and change to green over time. Clumps well in humus rich shade. Sister to Epimedium “Knight Star”, this was raised by Julian Sutton from Desirable Plants, in Devon. The seed parent is E. [...]

Epimedium x-rubrum. Spreading evergreen perennial. Red and lemon flowers over fresh red-hued leaves in early spring. Plant in light shade, away from summer drought and winter waterlogging, but water in well in its first year. (photograph courtesy of Danielle Monbaliu)
