Japanese Tassle Fern Hardy semi-evergreen fern with pale-green fronds, with yellow bristles, growing up to 60cm. Fronds darken with age. Moist well-drained soil in semi-shade.
Eared Lady Fern Very attractive hardy herbaceous painted fern. Forms a clump of arching pale green fronds with dark red stems up to 80cm, which looks particularly stunning as the fronds first emerge. Moist free-draining humous rich soil in semi-shade.
Sea Pen Evergreen mat-forming, with dark green fronds to 15cm. Good for moist neutral to acidic soil, in in partial or full shade, but will grow in full sun in damp soil.
Interrupted Fern So named because the fertile segments of the fruiting fronds are carried in between lengths of barren frond rib. Deciduous fern with fronds growing to 150cm in mature plants. Neutral to acid rich soil in sheltered shade or semi-shade.
Northern Maidenhair – Delicate, 20-40cm fronds with black stems, spread out into a fan-like circle. Hardy and easy to grow in moist, cool free draining environments in reasonable shade. Deciduous.
Slender Crested Male Fern Hardy deciduous fern forming clumps with large arching fronds of narrow pinnules to 90cm. Prefers cool moist shade or semi-shade.
Oriental Ostrich Fern Deciduous fern with large open fronds up to 100cm and distinctive fruiting fronds in late spring. Grow in a sheltered position in cool moist soil. Spreads slowly.
