Undulated Hart’s Tongue Native form which forms small clumped rosettes of narrow wavy evergreen fronds, to 25cm height. Humous-rich soil, well drained but moist with reasonably neutral pH. Semi-shaded aspect.
Interrupted Fern So named because the fertile segments of the fruiting fronds are carried in between lengths of barren frond rib. Deciduous fern with fronds growing to 150cm in mature plants. Neutral to acid rich soil in sheltered shade or semi-shade.
Soft Shield Fern Compact evergreen fern growing to 60cm. Triangular fronds with overlapping pinnae. Moist, but well drained soil in partial shade, but will grow in full sun once established.
Western Sword Fern Hardy evergreen fern forming a large clump of erect, narrowly lance-shaped, dark green fronds to 90cm. Can grow in damp or dry soils when established.
Crested Hart’s Tongue Smaller evergreen fern with fronds growing to 30cm. Narrow leathery bright green fronds, with distinctive tufts at the top. Native form. Sea Pen Evergreen mat-forming, with dark green fronds to 15cm. Good for moist neutral to acidic soil, in in partial or full shade, but will grow in full sun in damp soil.
Hardy and reliable herbaceous fern, which makes an ideal specimen plant. Distinctive red stems on delicate looking lime green fronds. A real favourite with us. Easy to grow in good quality, moist well-drained soil. Best colours seen in semi-shaded site. medium to wet, well-drained soil.
Slender Crested Male Fern Hardy deciduous fern forming clumps with large arching fronds of narrow pinnules to 90cm. Prefers cool moist shade or semi-shade.
