Japanese woodland grass. Herbaceous clump forming grass that forms graceful mounds swaying on the breeze. Golden green leaves and clouds of fine seed heads in late autumn. H&S 30-40cm after 2-3 years. Hardy.
Plant in good quality free-draining soil that does not dry out. This variety needs a sunnier aspect to develop the golden leaves, but still best planted away from the strongest sun, eg north aspect or in partial to full shade. Leave old foliage through the winter and tidy the plant in early spring.

Very attractive Pulmonaria cultivar Desirable Plants, Totnes Devon. Foliage emerges as a milky chocolate with pale green spots, tints brown when exposed to cold weather. Violet blue flowers through early to mid-spring. Hardy perennial which grows well in full or partial shade, in all but the driest soils. Height 15-25cm, spreads slowly.
